“The Efficacy of the Er,Cr:YSGG Laser in Root Canal Disinfection”
Although impressive results have been obtained in vitro, laser energy alone is unable to eliminate bacteria from extracted teeth. A definitive treatment protocol is recommended to reduce the intracanal bacterial load prior to laser usage and to facilitate delivery of the laser energy to the most critical part of the root canal, the apical third. A review of the Er,Cr:YSGG Laser with radial firing tips within this treatment protocol will be presented.
Attendees will learn:
1. The mechanism of action and use of the Er,Cr:YSGG Laser within root canal systems.
2. The advantages and disadvantages of the Er,Cr:YSGG Laser in endodontic therapy.
3. A suggested protocol to facilitate the use of the Er,Cr:YSGG Laser in endodontic therapy.
